Marjorie L. Gorman June 26, 2020 Marjorie L. (Cook) Gorman, 88, of North Syracuse passed away at her home on Friday, June 26, 2020 surrounded by her family. Born in Detroit, Michigan on May 5, 1932, she and her family moved to Los Angeles, California when she was 4 years old. She graduated from Bishop Conaty High School, Los Angeles, in 1950. In 1952, the family moved to Syracuse. At Blessed Sacrament Church, Syracuse, in 1958, she married her husband of 37 years, Richard J. Gorman. For many years, Marge worked for the North Syracuse Central School District Early Education Program at Main Street School. A long time communicant of St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale, she was a choir member, Eucharistic minister and helped found the food pantry. In 1986, in the midst of raising her family, she graduated from Maria Regina College with a liberal arts degree. She was a life member of the Associate Program with the Sisters of St. Francis and served as co-director for thirteen years. Predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Clara (Gleise) Cook; her husband, Richard in 1997; her son, Robert in 2011 and her brother, Donald J. Cook, in 2016, she is survived by her daughter, Susan of North Syracuse; sons, James of Liverpool, Timothy of Savage, Minnesota, and Thomas (Wendy) of Cicero; granddaughter, Jillian Gorman of Liverpool; grandson, Mathew Gorman of Cicero and a niece, Nancy Pope of Elkridge, Maryland. The family would like to thank Shaina and Sherry from Hospice of CNY for their excellent care during Mom's final days. Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 pm Monday, June 29th at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Tuesday services will be at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Donations may be made to the St. Margaret's Food Pantry, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale, NY 13211 or the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, 960 James St. 2nd Fl., North Syracuse, NY 13203 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St, Liverpool, NY 13088.
