    Richard “Dick” Chapman, 83, of North Syracuse passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Born in Utica to the late Roy and Rose (Natole) Chapman, he was predeceased by his sister, Vilma Chapman and his brother, John “Jack” Chapman. In 1960, Dick graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering. He retired in 1993 from Carrier Corporation after 33 years of service where he was a quality control manager. Dick’s favorite place in the world was the family Adirondack camp on White Lake which they purchased in 1981. Dick was an avid SU fan, having had season tickets for both football and basketball. He was also a Yankee's fan. Dick has been a member of the Cicero United Methodist Church in Cicero since 1968. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Phyllis Arlene Yager; children, Amy (Michael) Emond, Richard “Rich” (Gail) Chapman, Jr., and Susan (Shawn) Hebert; sister-in-law, Janet Yager; eight grandchildren, Nikki, Austin, Dominick, Lindsay, Anthony, Brian, Peyton, and Taylor; niece Sarah (Jeff) Cross; nephews, William “Bill” (Darlene) Yager, Jr.; Paul (Donna) Chapman, Brian (Nancy) Chapman, John (Venita) Chapman, Robert (Lisa) Chapman and several great nieces, and nephews. A “CELEBRATION OF LIFE WORSHIP SERVICE” is planned for Sunday, May 29th at 2 pm at Cicero United Methodist Church, 8416 Brewerton Road, Cicero. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Empower Parkinson’s.org or PO Box 353, Tully, NY 13159-0353; or Advance GCFA Global Ministries/UMCOR, (memo project and Advance number), GPO PO Box 9068 NY, NY 10087-9068; or CUMC Memorial Fund, 8416 Brewerton Road, Cicero, NY 13039-9402.
