It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, Richard T. McLaughlin. He was born March 30, 1962 to the late Thomas and Gail (Ladd) McLaughlin and raised in North Syracuse NY. He graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1980 and had a lifelong career at Higbee Gaskets, now known as Seal & Design. He lived in Bridgeport before settling in Pennelleville, NY, for over 20 years. Rich was a wonderful guy. Everyone loved him. He was kind, generous, loyal, and always ready to help. He loved the outdoors, especially to fish and hunt. He had a profuse garden every year, rooted for the Bills and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed Cape Cod as well as other travels, usually to visit friends or family or to show someone the sights. He will be so very missed. Rich is survived by his brother, James of Brewster, Ma; sister, Judy Teachout (John Waterstraat) of Phoenix,NY; and sister, Patricia (husband, Eric Benishek, Jordan and Trew) of Charlotte, NC; and beloved nephew and niece, Liam and Emily Innes. He leaves his chocolate lab, Jack , ex-wife Melissa, along with many of her extended family by whom he lovingly called, Uncle. Calling Hours are Thursday, May 5th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Services are Friday, May 6th at 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Donations: American Heart Association or St Jude Children's Hospital.
