James Jaeger

James F. Jaeger, 91, of North Syracuse since 1962, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Raymond Frederick and Mary Margaret (Wilde) Jaeger, he was a 1954 Marquette University graduate with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from General Electric in 1992. A deeply faithful man, Jim was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, where he had been a daily communicant, an usher, trustee, money counter and lector. While at GE, he was member of their woodworkers club and bowling leagues. He was a docent at the “French Fort”, a Francis House volunteer and involved with Boy Scouting. He took his family on trips for the historical interest and enjoyed beach walking. On February 6, 1954, he and the former Charlene A. Gerstner were married. She predeceased him on August 4, 2009. A grandson, Dietrich, also predeceased him in September 2022. Their children are John Raymond Jaeger, James Robert (Elizabeth) Jaeger, Anne Elizabeth West, Nancy Marie (Jack) Lantry, Jr., Paul Andrew (Kris) Jaeger, Thomas Anthony (Susan) Jaeger and Katherine Charlene (Tony) Clark. Survivors also include eighteen grandchildren, Stephen (Jillian), Mary, Charles (Amanda), Vanessa, Sean, Jacob, Lara (Kenneth), Corwin, Christopher, Amanda, Jordan, Brian (Ariel) , Katherine, Jason, Courtney, Ian, Matthew and Robert; eleven great grandchildren, Cameron, Victoria, Sophie, Jack, Hazel, Fritz, Lily, Kenneth, Sebastian, Savanna and Riley; brothers, Ronald Jaeger and Alan (Lynda) Jaeger and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, June 12th from 4 to 7 pm at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 South Main Street, North Syracuse with burial following in North Syracuse Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Education Fund, 409 South Main Street, North Syracuse 13212 or to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, 5015 Campuswood Drive, Suite 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
